She’s a dreamer, joyous space creator, philanthropist, former radio host and entrepreneur. Mia Jackson Tyus is also a lover of a good glass of wine, lists the Atlanta Housewives as her guilty pleasure and thinks there’s nothing better in life than having a hot cup of coffee in the morning while planning how to turn dreams to a reality. She has designed a life that she proudly says allows her to comfortably move “from the outhouse to the White House.”
Today Mia serves as founder, leader and Chief Enjoyment Officer for Power in Pumps where she and her all-female squad work to educate, impact and empower women through conversations, workshops, conferences, virtual and in-person training opportunities.
Mia is a firm believer in the old adages "we are what we think," none of us is as good as all of us" and "this ain't about us" all of which are woven into the fabric of her company and her life. For more than a decade she traveled the world implementing compliance and diversity initiatives for a Fortune 50 corporation and also hosted the popular "Keepin' It Real" morning radio show on 95.5 F.M. in Decatur Illinois. The show brought Mia's unique perspective on love, life and the issues facing the African American community to thousands of Central Illinois listeners each weekend.
Mia holds an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville College, a master’s degree in Business Administration from Millikin University and three Equal Employment Opportunity certifications from Cornell University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority incorporated and is a graduate of The Flourishing Center's Applied Positive Psychology program.
In her “down” time, this wife and mother of two can be found planning her next big event, trying to herd 14-year-old twins William and Symonne out of the door for school on time each day and strongly encouraging husband Billy to pick up his dirty socks from off of the bedroom floor.

THE FOLLOWING REPRESENT A SAMPLE OF SESSIONS THAT CAN BE PROVIDED DURING YOUR TRAINING SESSION OR EVENT. CONTACT US AT INFO@THEPOWERINPUMPS FOR A COMPLETE LIST OR TO DISCUSS TAILORING OUR WORK TO BEST MEET YOUR NEEDS.

OWNING YOUR PLATFORMS
We've all heard the phrase "own the room you're in" - well this session will show you how unapologetically and boldly do just that while avoiding showing up in a way that will let others lessen your value.

ORDER MY STEPS
A lot of us wander aimlessly through life, reacting to the emergency of the day, living paycheck to paycheck or bad relationship to bad relationship instead of owning our own destiny. Here you'll learn to develop an intentional life strategy that will will quickly have life happening "FOR" or you, not "TO" you!

STEPPING INTO YOUR PURPOSE WITH CLARITY
We've all thought about it - walking in and quitting that 9-to-5 job to go out and chase our dreams. In this session you'll hear from someone who's done just that and today is living her best life as a small business owner and boss. Hear what you need to know about making the jump.

STRETCHING YOUR "SOLE"
Why reinvent yourself when expanding the true you, the intelligent, creative and talented, passionate, boss-chick leader will always be enough. Sometimes we just need a push to remind us of who we already are. Let this session be that push.

4 LEADERS. 40 IDEAS. 40 MINUTES
This exciting and fast paced event will see four local women of power who will each have 10 minutes to discuss 10 proven insights and ideas that will help attendees achieve personal and professional success.

PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO
The world celebrates being busy but we’re not built to run, run, run 24-hours-a-day and it’s killing us. Free your mind, and peace, success and better health will follow.

VISION BOARDING
Here we’ll talk about the purpose of vision boards, what they are, how to create them and the importance of visualizing the life you want.

THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS
We’ve all heard that you have to own the room that you’re in, but what if it’s not the room that you SHOULD be in or that you WANT to be in? It’s perfectly OK to want to be a “boss” but if it doesn’t connect with your passions or beliefs, it’s also perfectly OK to change course. Asking ourselves “what is our why” can help us to navigate the room that we’re in, regardless of the room that we’re in. This discussion will tackle how to identify your “Why.”

PERSONAL BRANDING
We build our brand in everything we do. It’s in our attitude and how we show up to work. That not-so nice Facebook post or goofy TikTok dance? You’d better believe someone you might not expect saw those too. In this session we’ll work through how to manage your day-to-day life in a way that builds a positive brand.

EMPOWERED WOMEN EMPOWER WOMEN
So often we feel the need to be perfect – as an employee, mother, manager or wife – but instead of climbing the heights of personal or professional success we often end up anxious, tired, burned out and feeling alone. It doesn’t have to be that way. The truth is that women truly could run the world, if only we could see how powerful we can be together. Here we’ll talk about why it’s important to change our language, actions and mindset when it comes to dealing with one another, how our issues are not unique to us and how realizing that we can’t be our best selves by ourselves can change our lives.
